Day Ladies League
The Day Ladies curl every Tuesday and Thursday morning from 9:15-11:15 a.m. This group prides itself in being non-competitive and players enjoy the social aspect of curling as much as the game itself with coffee and treats often enjoyed after each game in the upstairs lounge.
The Day Ladies calendar includes an in-house Turkey Spiel in December, two fun spiels in January with the Day Men's league (mix n' match format) and a Valentine's Invitational Bonspiel in February, where teams from other clubs join in the fun. Occasionally, the ladies will travel to spiels at other clubs in the area.
Social would be the best way to describe the Day Ladies League.
New members of any skill level are always welcome! Come join the FUN!
Day Men's League
The Day Men’s Curling Association is open to all men. They hit the ice as many as three times per week on a recreational basis with a strong emphasis placed on the social aspect of the game. Games take place on Tuesdays and Thursdays at 1:00 p.m. and Fridays at 9:00 a.m.
Two things that make daytime curling an enjoyable experience is that no one is assigned to any one team, you play with a different group each day so you are not committed to playing on any particular day, and, the format of switch-around play is used whereby you play two ends at each position. This group also gets involved in several Home and Home series with other clubs, including the Truro Day Ladies League.
Over and above regularly scheduled curling are other events like a Christmas bonspiel, a three day senior’s club championship series and the hosting of a full day invitational bonspiel with other clubs from the area. Open Fridays usually result in a luncheon after curling known as 'Pizza Fridays'! Overall, great fun takes place both on and off the ice and is greatly enjoyed by all who participate.
Registration required.
Stick League
Stick Curling is a great activity, with the excitement and challenge of curling for people of all ages and abilities on a recreational or competitive basis, and in a social atmosphere. Stick Curling is very appropriate for those with physical limitations (knee, back, heart, shoulder, arm, hip, feet) or simply those that can no longer get in the hack. The stones are delivered with a special stick from a standing, moving or sitting position (wheelchair).
The Stick League has no gender or age restrictions. The game provides a good mix of people and results in great camaraderie for all involved. A team consists of only two people and each player delivers six stones per end against their opponent. Games usually only last six ends, taking approximately one hour. There is no sweeping/brushing between the hoglines. Both players are always busy, one is skipping and the other, delivering.
Stick curlers are not restricted to the Stick League. Stick League plays Mondays, with draws at 9:30, 11:45, and 2:00
Wednesday Daytime Drop-in Curling
Drop-in Curling is available for any Truro Curling Club member. Teams are made up based on the number of curlers present.
ALL skill levels welcome. Every Wednesday at 1:00 p.m.
